Transportation
The most convenient way of getting there to Napoli is by a flight to Naples-Capodichino International Airport (Capodichino Viale F. Ruffo di Calabria, 80144 Napoli NA, Italy), followed by either car rental or public transportation.
The easiest and most flexible option is car rental, but is more expensive and parking space around the Naples city center is scarce and expensive. Naples Airport has a multitude of car rental companies, both within the arrivals terminal or close by with a shuttle bus. The drive to Posillipo is a little over half an hour over the A56 or A1/E45 highways. Both routes will require you to pay tolls (around €1 paid by cash or card). If you decide to come earlier and stay somewhere else around Napoli coast please be mindful of parking space and required fees.
Going by public transportation is significantly cheaper, but it can be a bit unreliable in terms of timing. Busses, metro and trains go frequently though, so you will definitely be able to travel. You will first need to get a bus from Naples Airport to Naples Central station (Piazza Garibaldi). The company Alibus has regular shuttle busses. Tickets can be pre-booked here. From Naples Central you can get a metro (Line 2) or suburban train (MET) to Mergellina, and then take the bus 140, Plebiscito – Posillipo Capo – Attestamento. After 17 stops (~16 minutes) you can get off at the stop “Posillipo-Rione Primavera”. For the bus, you’ll need to buy a bus ticket either in advance online, either inside the bus, or at a tabacchi shop. For the metro/train we recommend to get the ticket from the nearby machines inside the Naples Central station. There are of course other ways to arrive by public transportation, but this one seems to be the easiest in terms of distance, amount of transportation changes and time.

However, if you decide to come to Napoli for longer and combine it with holidays, we recommend to choose a hotel, B&B or apartment closer to city center so you have an easier access for a sightseeing. There are plenty to choose from and the most easiest way is to do it via airbnb.com or booking.com.
